A POEM ARRIVES: BEINGS OF SUCH BEAUTY

In the power of imagination, images easily and quickly can pour out into words. Just as an artist can’t fully ‘explain’ a painting, so too is the poet often confounded by her own words. Images and words, mysterious and evocative, somehow carry truth already deeply known in heart and soul.

Beings of such beauty protected her.
In the darkness of her lonely room,
The moon and stars were there watching.
Something whistled through the windows of her desolation.

In the darkness of her lonely room,
A basket laden with fragrant flowers
Whistled through the windows of her desolation.
It was the only home she had ever known.

A basket laden with fragrant flowers
Sang to the moon and stars there, watching.
It was the only home she had ever known.
Beings of such beauty protected her.
